And that's just what HNSA is doing!
We're excited to announce that we are holding our inaugural
conference on 20-22 March 2015 at the historic Balmain Town Hall, Sydney. This
initiative will create a community for the historical fiction genre by
providing a forum for aspiring, emerging and established authors, historians,
industry professionals, and fans of the genre to enjoy a weekend of talks,
panels, debate and interaction about historical fiction.
The conference’s theme of ‘Peace and War’ coincides with the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign. The programme will contain general, academic and cinematic streams. We also plan to hold a debate between historical novelists and historians discussing the validity of research in historical fiction. The esteemed novelist, Kate Forsyth, has agreed to act as the HNSA’s patron. So far our participating author list includes Kate Forsyth, Peter Corris, Colin Falconer, Blanche D'Alpuget, Isolde Martyn, Sulari Gentill, Toni Jordan, Nicole Alexander and Jesse Blackadder.
More details about the conference can be found at our brand
new HNSA website
